GOLD IMPORT FALLS 24.27PC IN JULY
During the month under review, 31 kilogram worth of US $1.27 million was imported compared to the import of 47 kg valuing $1.677 million in same month of previous year.
On month-on-month basis, the import of yellow metal also decreased by 24.09 per cent as against the import of $1.673 million in June 2015, according to a latest data revealed by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
The overall metal group import, however increased by 12.65 per cent in July 2016 against the same month of preceding year.
The metal group import went up from $260.407 million in July 2015 to $293.349 million in July this year while on month-on-month basis, the metal group import witnessed a decline of 26.93 per cent.
The import of iron and steel scrap in July 2016 declined by 18.78 per cent and 38.03 per cent when it compared with the import of July 2015 and June 2016 respectively.
The iron and steel scrap import was recorded at $63.176 million in July 2016 compared with the import of $77.780 million in July 2015 and $102.097 million in June 2016.
Similarly the import of iron and steel decreased by 27.13 per cent as it went up from $106.159 million in July 2015 to $134.955 million in July, 2016 while on month-on-month its import decreased by 31.63 per cent in June 2016.
The aluminum wrought and work import rose to $15.362 millon in July 2016 from $12.355 million in same month of last year thus showing a rise of 24.34 per cent while on month-on-month basis it fell by 13.48 per cent when compared with the $18.176 million import of June 2015.
